The final day of the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 will feature several highly-ranked players from across the state of Georgia and notable gems who could make a name for themselves. Let’s take a look at some of the players to watch in the event’s finale on Thursday.
Greater Atlanta Christian, ATH, Denzel Watkins
The two-sport star plays a little bit of everything for the Spartans and has been putting on a show on the 7 on 7 circuit. At the UGA 7 on 7, Watkins finished the day with five interceptions. On offense, he is a solid passer with good mechanics and footwork that allows him to deliver the ball in tight windows. He can also be a playmaker with the ball in his hands. The Army commit is also really good at creating plays with his legs and throwing off the run. The versatile athlete will be a name to watch on Thursday.
Cambridge, WR, Craig Dandridge
This is probably a bold proclamation with so many great wide receivers in the state of Georgia and the country, but Dandridge just has that it factor to him and has established himself as the best wide receiver in the state. He put on an absolute clinic during spring ball and put on a show in the spring game against Walton. His shiftiness, coupled with his breakaway speed in the open field, huge catch radius, and ability to separate from defenders with his route running, makes him tough to stop. Last season, he averaged 120 yards per game and finished with 1,443 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s also closing in on a commitment, and the Yellow Jackets will get one last chance to see the star wide receiver.
Cambridge, WR, Hudson Cocchiara
You get to the point where you almost run out of compliments to describe Cocchiara at the wide receiver position. He is one of the most complete receivers that will be in attendance. Cocchiara can do a little bit of everything, whether it is playing the slot, the boundary, or even running back. He could potentially line up some snaps at running back, which would isolate him one on one against a linebacker or safety, which is dangerous for opposing teams in 7 on 7. His versatility will be a thing to watch in the 7 on-7, and he is always a big play waiting to happen.
Parkview, DB, KJ Caldwell
Caldwell has established himself as one of the top safeties in the 2027 class. He’s already a four-star prospect across every major recruiting service except Rivals. Some of his top offers include Auburn, Georgia Tech, and LSU. Caldwell is already running a sub-11 100M dash, setting a PR this season of 10.95. He’s a long and rangy safety with astute ball skills and is a great open-field tackler. The rising junior is just getting started in the state and is already considered one of the best because he is so technically sound at a young age and plays like a willy veteran.
Kennesaw Mountain, QB, Chris Miller
Miller has created quite a name for himself in the 2028 class, continuing to see the offers roll in. He started to gain more steam after his Georgia Elite Classic performance, showcasing himself among all the great peach state has to offer. His freshman season was also solid for a true freshman quarterback. During his freshman season, he threw for 1,347 yards and 12 touchdowns. Heading into the 2025 season, the expectation is that he takes a huge step forward for the Mustangs and gets them back in contention after a 1-9 campaign in 2024. With his ability as a quarterback and the ability to improvise and extend plays, the Mustangs should be able to shock some people. Miller will definitely be one to watch.
Mundy’s Mill, ATH, Jeremiah Roux
The standout athlete for Mundy’s Mill is closing in on a decision and will announce between East Carolina, USF, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Western Kentucky, Troy, and UAB. He will commit on June 30th. He had a big-time impact year on both sides of the ball for Mundy’s Mill, amassing more than 1,450 total yards to go along with five touchdowns. He also finished with 34 tackles on defense. Expect the standout athlete to make his presence felt in front of the Georgia Tech coaches.
Roswell, QB, Trey Smith
Smith had a coming-out party last year at the Georgia Tech 7 on 7 event, guiding the Hornets to the semifinals in tournament play. He also threw an incredible Hail Mary game-winner that propelled the Hornets to Bobby Dodd Stadium and play as one of the final teams left on the day. Smith on the gridiron put together a productive season as a first-time starter, throwing for 2.493 yards and 23 touchdowns. He is also dynamic with his legs. Last season he ran the ball for 875 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Smith will look to recapture some of the same magic he had last year in the tournament.
Roswell, WR, Willis Campbell
A playmaker on the outside who will have an expanded role this upcoming season for the Hornets. Campbell is set to be the main option on offense for Roswell. Last year, he finished with 42 catches for 716 yards and nine touchdowns. Last year, he had to share the spotlight with Ethan Guerla, Nitro Davenport, and Synkwan Smith, but he will be the main guy for Roswell. Campbell played some of his best football down the stretch of last season, finishing the final two games with 284 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Jasper County, DB, Bryan Ridley
Ridley had a productive campaign in 2024 and finished with 85 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble, a pass deflection, and a fumble recovery. One of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown. He had one of his best games against McNair. Ridley finished with 12 tackles and an interception on the way to a 22-14 victory. Ridley isn’t the biggest safety at 5’11 but he makes up for it with his instincts and willingness to come in the box and play against the run without letting it affect how he plays coverage. The underrated rising senior has a lot of potential and will get a chance to show what he is capable of.
