Wisconsin is already off to a strong start for their 2026 recruiting class, with 15 commitments.
And the program just got even stronger.
Sandy Creek’s four-star running back Amari Latimer announced his commitment to Wisconsin.
“I knew Wisconsin was where I needed to be,” he said after his announcement June 28th.
Wisconsin was only one of Latimer’s 47 offers, eight of which made the playoffs last year.
Before his commitment, Latimer narrowed down his top six to Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, and Wisconsin. However, after making numerous visits, he decided that Wisconsin felt like home. The effort that the staff put into his recruitment “meant a lot” to him, and he likes “the relationships they built with [him].” Latimer heavily praised the coaching staff and community, even saying, “I love how everyone works together and I love the environment around the people and the program.”
Latimer said that he felt like he was joining a family, especially in the running back room, which he described as a “tight” group where “there is no jealousy and they are all close with each other.”
Latimer’s brother, Geimere Latimer, also transferred to Wisconsin this offseason as a cornerback from Jacksonville State. Amari having the chance to play alongside his brother is another upside of joining the program, which he noted was a factor in his decision.
The 6-foot, 215-pound running back had a very impressive junior season, with 136 carries for 1113 yards and 15 touchdowns, but that’s not all. Latimer also had 27 receptions for 363 yards and 4 touchdowns. Averaging almost 2 touchdowns and well over 100 yards per game, Latimer seeks to have an even better senior season, paving his path to much success at Wisconsin.
