Two Elite Prospects Set To Commit At The End Of February

Although it is a dead period and coaches can’t contact recruits, it doesn’t mean commitments can’t happen. Two of the biggest commitments in the state are coming up at the end of February as Bear McWhorter and Jorden Edmonds are set to make a decision. Both are standout players at their positions with a lot of upside at the next level and can be big contributors once they get to college. Let’s take a look at some of their top schools and what makes them top prospects.

Cass OL Bear McWhorter- McWhorter has set his commitment for February 28th and will choose between Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Clemson and South Carolina. He was formerly committed to Arkansas last summer before reopening his commitment. Since he’s seen offers continue to come for his services and is now closing in on a decision. I’ve seen him several times throughout his career and every time McWhorter impresses. He was at the Georgia Elite Classic where he was one of the best players at the event stifling defensive lineman. He turned it up a notch at the UA Camp winning the majority of his 1 on 1 reps against defensive linemen hardly getting moved. McWhorter has continued to show he is one of the best offensive linemen in the country no matter who he goes against. When you watch him, he has impressive footwork, moves well repositioning himself no matter what comes his way, and his strength allows him to shut down opposing defenders. McWhorter has been highly ranked for a while and is one of the best interior offensive linemen you will find. Any team that gets his commitment will be fortunate because he is 6’3 and 308 pounds who moves the way he can does not come around every day.

Sprayberry DB Jorden Edmonds- He was set to make his commitment on his birthday February 19th and decide between Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. He has moved his commitment back to think about his decision more. This past season he played on both sides of the ball making his impact felt. He finished with 32 catches for 648 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he finished with 30 tackles and two pass deflections. The stats don’t tell the full story on defense as he was asked to guard the opposing team’s best player a lot of the time and still be an effective piece on offense. Edmonds was a vital part of the Sprayberry’s success in 2024 which included a quarterfinal berth. Edmonds is coming off an electric performance in the Under Armour camp last week in an event he dominated against stellar competition. He received an All-American game invite and was one of the stars of the show. He used his great technique to close down on the ball and make interceptions against opposing receivers. Edmonds also used his press to stifle receivers at the line and make it difficult for them to get going at the top of their route. For Edmonds, he can play any position on the backend which makes him special. It will be interesting to see where he chooses his next college to be next Wednesday.
