Jesus Vega helps propel Dooly County to 10-0 start

Dooly County has started the season on fire, boasting a 10-0 record so far. A major factor in the team’s success has been sophomore forward Jesus Vega, who has been a dominant force on offense. Through the first 10 games, Vega has scored 25 goals, finding the back of the net in every match.

He has recorded at least one goal in every game this season, including four performances with three or more goals. In the team’s last two games against Treutlen and Montgomery County, Vega exploded for five goals in each match. So far, he has accounted for 25 of Dooly County’s 55 total goals this season.

In addition to Vega, the Tigers have two other key offensive contributors who have scored at least five goals. Dodany Mendez, the team’s second-leading scorer, has netted nine goals, with seven of those coming in the past three games as he has hit his stride. Gustavo Jimenez, the team’s third-leading scorer, has added six goals this season. Together, Vega, Mendez, and Jimenez form a dynamic attacking trio that presents a challenge for any opposing defense.

As of now, Region 2-Class Division II appears to be a two-team race between Dooly County and Georgia Military.

The Bulldogs are currently 4-1 and have dominated their last three region games, winning each by a score of 28-0. The two teams are set to face off twice this season, first on March 17 and again on April 17. With both schools being the only teams in the region without at least two losses, these matchups could very well determine the region champion and decide who secures the No. 1 seed heading into the postseason.
