Dorian Barney announced his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines on July 5th, choosing them over Ole Miss, Penn State, and Texas A&M. He is the 20th commitment for the Wolverines 2026 class and their first cornerback commit for that class.
Barney had a good junior season with the Trojans as he tallied 39 tackles, five pass breakups, five interceptions, and one pick-six. He succeeds with shutting short pass plays, specifically when he is in zone coverage which he gets a lot of interceptions in. Regarding man coverage, Barney dominates those one-on-one matchups by limiting the amount of separation between him and the receiver.
He has his senior season in front of him to make a final attempt at bringing home a state title with his Trojan teammates after falling short in the Class 6A state championship game against Grayson last season.
